Ongoing Groups and Classes

Easter Children's Choir Rehearsal

Sundays, 9:00 to 9:30, beginning February 28, in the Friendship Room. The choir will sing two songs, one on Palm Sunday and another on Easter, both at the 9:45 service. All children ages 3 to 12 are welcome. Call Ann at 586.5413 with questions.

Sunday Morning Bible Study

Sundays, 10:00 a.m., Chapel. This group is currently working with Longing to Pray: How the Psalms Teach Us to Talk with God by J. Ellsworth Kalas.

Faith and Culture Adult Forum

Sundays, 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., Friendship Room. This group meets to discuss current events and social issues. For the schedule of upcoming topics.

Sermon Conversation

Sundays, 10:45 a.m., Fireside Room. This group gets insights from Pastor Dave's sermon and explores how his spiritual guidance applies in our daily lives.

Parents of Young Children: Juggling and Struggling

Sundays, during the children's Sunday School time, Garden Room (upstairs). Talk with other parents about the joys and challenges of raising kids today and explore what God wants us to do as parents.

Faith in Film

Sundays, 6:30 p.m., Friendship Room. The group meets to watch and discuss new and classic movies, exploring their relevance to the Christian journey. Attend weekly or drop in when you can. Call Paul at 586.7024 for information.

WEBS Women's Ecumenical Bible Study

Mondays, January 25 for 10 weeks, 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., Friendship Room. WEBS offers a safe, engaging environment to nurture your faith through Bible study. It also offers connection through the sharing of stories in a spiritual and scholarly setting. This 10-week study will explore 1 Corinthians using a study by N.T. Wright, led by Rev. Valerie Webster. Childcare is available. Sponsored by BUMC, St. James Episcopal, Hope Lutheran, and First Presbyterian churches. For more information, call Katie at 570.4146.

Campus and Young Adult Ministry

Tuesdays, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Christus Collegium (8th and College). The evening includes a homemade dinner, music, and discussion with Morie Adams-Griffin, pastor of Living Waters UMC. Call Ann at 586.5413 for information.

The WOW Team

Wednesdays, 3:45 to 5:00 p.m., Friendship Room. Kindergarteners through 5th graders are welcome to join this after-school mission outreach group, which is our youngest mission team. We start at 3:45 with a snack. All elementary school students are welcome, whether or not they're a part of our church. Youth Group Meetings

Wednesdays, 6:30 to 8:15, Friendship Room. Youth group is open to all youth in grades 6-12. Each night, we enjoy a delicious dinner followed by singing, a story by Dave, games, and discussion. This group provides a safe place for our youth to express their thoughts and feelings, enjoy fellowship with others, and experience the love of God.

Methodists Mentoring Musicians

The first Wednesday of each month, 5:30 to  6:00 p.m., Friendship Room. This is an intergenerational group of seasoned musicians lending support and tips to budding musicians. If you play an instrument, can give some pointers, and would like to make a new friend, please come. Contact Jill at 586.5413 if you have questions.

Thursday Evening
Bible Study

Thursdays, 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., Friendship Room. The study of the Gospel of Mark, led by Pastor Dave. During Lent, we'll move to a them of Jesus' Journey: Identity and Ethics; we'll look at how Jesus' sense of who he was affected what he did, and how our identity in Jesus can tell us how to live. Childcare is provided as necessary. Call 586.5413 to arrange for childcare.

Ten Great Dates

Saturdays, starting November 7, November 14, November 21, December 5, December 12, January 9, 16, 23, and 30, and February 6, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. By popular demand, the church will sponsor a new kind of marriage enrichment program this fall to help you reconnect with your spouse in these hectic times. Not really a class, this is an opportunity for you and your spouse to go on ten great dates. All couples meet weekly at the church for a 20-minute video before dispersing on their own private date. Childcare is provided by the church.
