Education
Sunday School is now off for the summer. Vacation Bible School is mornings June 21-25.
Education is an important part of Christian life. Sunday school teachers, the Director of Christian Education, and members of our church make up the education team. They make sure all classes are running smoothly, from preschool through adult. They oversee Sunday School, Bible Studies, Confirmation, and Vacation Bible School. At Bozeman United Methodist Church, we offer several on-going programs for adults and children. Kay Lansverk is the Director of Christian Education. For questions, information, or suggestions, phone her at 586.5413, extension 101, or send email to
kay@bozemanumc.org. Sunday School classes run from September through May with summers off.
Our kindergarten through fifth grade Sunday School children use a rotational style of learning. We are very excited about this approach because the children get to explore one Bible story in a variety of learning environments, using different learning styles and "brain strengths" (Multiple Intelligence Theory: acting, reading, music, art, listening, etc.). We hope it will help kids with long-term retention and integration of the faith story in their lives. In this model, the same Bible story or theme is explored for several weeks, with children of one age group going to a different, exploratory room each Sunday.
Many United Methodist churches, and others, are now using this rotational style of learning with great success and we're excited to be doing this for our kids here at BUMC. And a wonderful added benefit is another chance for our intergenerational church family to interact, learn, and share gifts and time with each other.
If you're an adult and haven't explored how you can be a part of rotational learning, contact Kay at 586.5413. Share your love and gifts with our children! Either help for 4 or 5 Sundays with a learning station (45 minutes) or be a shepherd, that is, an adult who provides loving friendship and guidance for one group of children but who is not responsible for planning activities.
Children and Youth Education
|
The following Sunday School classes run from September through May.
|
| Sunday School |
Sunday School Opening with music and puppet show is the beginning of our 9:45 worship service. After the opening, parents can take young children to the nursery (for children up to 4 years old) or the library (for children 5 to 7 years old). Or, if they are able, we welcome children to stay and be part of the service. Sunday school begins at 10:35 and ends at 11:20. We ask that parents of young children meet them at their classes to pick them up. See the current rotational calendar |
| WOW Team |
