V.I.P.: Very Important Preachers, Prophets & Ordinary People

ss

Every Sunday, from early September through mid-May, our Kindergarten through 5th grade children explore a Bible story or faith theme from one learning perspective (science, art, drama, cooking, etc.). A wonderful benefit to this rotational method is the interaction of so many people of all ages: learning and sharing gifts and time with each other.
Our Middle & High School groups meet  seperately each week to more deeply explore the Bible, topics and issues youth face today, and also play some games and have some general fun!

Sundays, 9:30 AM

2016/17 Sunday School Theme:
Dive Deep into the Bible
For four or five week periods, our Kindergarten-5th Grade Children explore one Bible Story or faith theme, changing rooms each week to learn from a different learning perspective… i.e., science, art, drama, cooking, etc. Their wonderful leaders come from our church family…

Volunteers: How You Can Help with Faith Learning & Christian Eductaion
  • Preschool teacher: Team of four adults (two of you twice a month) help teach our littlest 3-4 year olds and older 4-5 year olds in our two preschool classrooms; Sept.-May partnered with a team of teachers that alternate to share the curriculum and class.
  • K-5th grade shepherd: We need two Shepherds per grade to ‘shepherd’ our children to the rotation rooms, lead prayer time, and lend a hand to the rotation leaders teaching the lesson. No prep time needed. Sept.-May, paired with a partner to alternate or share the class.
  • K-5th grade rotation leader: Help K-5th grade children explore a Bible story or faith theme from on learning perspective (science, art, drama, cooking etc.). You’ll teach the same basic lesson to a different group of kids 4 weeks in a row, and meet countless kids, shepherds and parent. 4 consecutive week commitment – paired with a partner to alternate or share the curriculum.
  • Middle-school teacher: Team of four adults (two each twice a month) help teach our young teenagers; Sept.-May, paired with a partner to alternate or share the class.
  • High-school teacher: Team of four adults (two each twice a month) help teach our older teenagers; Sept.-May, paired with a partner to alternate or share the class.
Families: How Your Children Can Participate in Classes
  • Sunday Morning Preschool (upstairs preschool classrooms): Our littlest 3-4 year olds have so much fun as they are introduced to the stories of Jesus, and they meet in the same room each week.
  • K-5th Grade (classes upstairs – see weekly schedule of rotation rooms): Our elementary age children use a rotational style of learning. They move to a different learning center room each Sunday (we post calendar schedules showing where each age will be on a given Sunday). For four weeks the children focus on one story, but each week they experience it in a different way (i.e.: drama, science, cooking, games, art…). We offer this method of leaning Bible stories and fairth lessons to take advantage of the different ways people learn – orally, experientially, and creatively. A fantastice side benefit is… the kids have a ton of fun! The roataions this year are designed for the overall theme: “V.I.P.: Very Important Preachers, Prophets, and Ordinary People.”  We will study Noah, Jonah, John the Baptist, Mary Magdelene and more to answer the question: who are the very important leaders in the Bible?
  • This spring we will have a five week practice of Godly Play with our families coming together to learn and grow with God while playing together.
  • Middle School Sunday School (Boy Scout Room in the basement): Missional focused discussions and activities for 6-8th graders.
  • High School Sunday School (Youth Room in the basement): Topical discussions and social activities for 9-12th graders.
