United Methodist Women
"The organized unit of UNITED METHODIST WOMEN shall be
a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as
whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive
fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the
global ministries of the church."
United Methodist
Women is a community of over 140 women who nurture and encourage one another in
their spiritual growth and development. We have many small groups that meet for
study, fellowship and support. Many groups suspend meetings for the summer so contact 586.5413 for
the current schedule and more information about any
of these groups.
UMW Circles
|
Evening Circle
|
4th Monday of
each month, 5:30 p.m. A light supper and childcare are provided.
This group seeks
to reach out to newcomers, particularly younger women and those unable to
attend daytime meetings. Sharing and community building are vital
ingredients of the meetings. Program content includes spiritual growth,
women's issues, and current social issues. Videos are often used as a
stimulus to discussion. |
|
Martha & Rebekah Circles
|
3rd Wednesday of
each month, 1:00 p.m. at Aspen Pointe. Refreshments are provided.
Program materials
include UMW study books, Response magazine, UMW Program Book, current
events, or others. In November, the two circles hold a joint luncheon and
auction at Aspen Pointe Retirement Community. These circles rotate
membership every two years allowing the women to meet others and get to know each
other better. |
|
Miriam-Ruth Circle
|
3rd Wednesday of
each month, 10:00 a.m. in the conference room. Light refreshments are provided.
A brief business
meeting is held and then a program is presented by circle members. Programs
are based on a study book selected by the circle or on Response magazine,
the UMW Program Book, current issues, or Bible study. |
|
Newly Retired Group (eNeRGy)
|
3rd Tuesday of
each month at IHOP restaurant, 10:00 for a casual, no-host brunch.
This eNeRGy-filled
group offers fellowship for women in the retirement and empty-nest stage of
life. Discussion topics are gleaned from a study book selected by group
members. |
|
Noon Luncheon Group |
4th Thursday of
each month, 12:00 noon at Christus Collegium (714 S. 8th), MSU. Light lunch is provided.
This is a group
of working and non-working women who gather for lunch, fellowship, and a
20-minute program. While a core group attends regularly, each gathering
stands alone, so anyone is welcome to participate whenever the topic of the
day is especially appealing. Lunch is provided for $4.00. |
|
’N Stitches Quilting Group
|
2nd Tuesday of
each month, 1:30 p.m. in the Friendship Room. Childcare provided.
Come, grab some fabric, and be a part of this great group
working on various quilting projects. |
|
UMW Reading Group |
This group
doesn’t meet, but passes books from member to member. Each member selects a
book to be passed through this reading chain. Much enjoyment comes from
reading a different book each month. The variety of book topics is always
interesting and the discipline of regular reading is very satisfying. |
|
Wesleyan Circle
|
3rd Wednesday of
each month, 1:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room, with an
occasional luncheon at a local restaurant.
We engage in
fellowship along with a variety of devotions and lessons from the UMW
program book, Response magazine, and other appropriate resources. Guests and
new members are always welcome.
