Stephen Ministry
BUMC is part of the Stephens Series system of lay caring ministry developed by Stephen Ministries, a nonprofit religious and education organization based in St. Louis, Missouri. Stephen Ministers have completed 50 hours of training and are ready to care for others in a confidential, one-on-one Christian based approach to those attending our church as well as individuals in the community who are facing life challenges. Examples of life events that a Stephen Minister may be helpful with include: hospitalization, loss of a loved one, loneliness, divorce, unemployment, birth of a child, and many other life challenges…
To request a Stephen Minister, or if you’d like to investigate becoming a Stephen Minister, please contact the BUMC Nurture, Care & Membership Coordinator,
Small Groups
At BUMC we are blessed through worship each week. Together we are able to express our praise and thanksgiving to God, as well as receive Pastoral inspiration on how to live and how we can respond to God’s transforming call. When we join with others from our church community in a small group dedicated to deepening our faith, the experience can be an enriching enhancement to what we learn in worship.
Current faith and support group opportunities include: Family Dine, Dine with 9, Stamping & Card Making, Men’s Breakfast Out, Date Night, Mom’s Day Out, Secret Sisters, Divorce Care & Share, Prayer Shawl Group, Widow & Widowers Support Group and more.
