Pastor Deborah Christine

Hi, I’m Deborah Christine, BUMC’s new pastor!

I am so glad that you found me, and I want you to know a bit more about my journey in ministry.

I was born in Greeley, Colorado. When I was five, my parents and I moved to Arizona where I grew up and then raised my family. I graduated with a BA in Art Education from Arizona State University and then taught both in Phoenix and in Tucson for over 10 years. I received a MA in Art Education from the University of Arizona and then co-founded an Art and Cultural Education Partnership.

Several years later I married and had a set of boy/girl twins! That changed everything! I went from being a well-dressed consultant to a full time mom. When the kids were five we moved to a small ranch east of Tucson where we shared our lives with cats, dogs, horses, chickens and many types of wildlife. What a blessing it was to stay at home with Kate and Matt until they attended High School.

It was then that I began to feel the nudge of my call. Once both kids were in college I went too! I attended Iliff School of Theology, receiving my Masters of Divinity in 2011! After living three years in Denver I realized that I wanted to stay in this beautiful area, and the Rocky Mountain Conference of the United Methodist Church allowed me to do so. I then received my first appointment to Westcliffe, CO. I served Community United Methodist church for five wonderful years. In March of this year I received the invitation to move to the Yellowstone Conference and serve in Montana. I feel extremely blessed for the opportunity to serve BUMC!

I am passionate about discovering how God is present and active in our lives. I endeavor to relate how scripture can move into our present day and guide us as we live into being Christians. I celebrate my heritage as a fourth generation Methodist and a great-granddaughter of a Kansas Circuit Rider. It is my desire to help create a place of God’s peace and presence, in our church, in our community and in the world.

Blessings,
Pastor Deb
